In the tradition of hobbyists everywhere, Marcelle saw this plant blooming an a yard.  She returned later with bulb of 'Burgundy' and arranged a trade.

This clone came to Marcelle through the help of a friend, Dorothy Lange.  Dorothy and Marcelle were visiting yet another lady, a friend of Dorothy's, who lives near the fork of the Neches and Angelina Rivers.  On that visit they found 'River Forks' growing in the garden.

Schreck' was given to Marcelle by a friend, Ruth Dubuisson; who had been given the clone by the Schreck family of Vidor.  Some have proposed 'Schreck' is the same as the 'Carroll Abbot'.
