Crinum macowanii is a widespread species in southern Africa, it can be found in the Northern Province, KwaZulu-Natal, Zambia and Namibia, etc.  The distinctive flowers can hang downwards like bells but often face outwards when new.  The tepal keels may be a bit darker on the outside of the flower.  Flowers can be white or pinkish, tepals are recurved.  Some flowers are generously fragrant.

C. macowanii is one of the parents of Ellen Bosanquet, a very reliable and popular old-time garden flower.
