Crinum Elsie

Crinum Elsie

‘Elsie’ blooms easily and often.  It’s parentage is unknown, but it was found by Mr. E. Lawrence.  Mr. Hannibal speculated it was a cross between C. bubispermum Album and C. americanum.  Marcelle reports ‘Elsie’ is a hardy plant that increases easily.

One note from the archives of the Pacific Bulb Society (2003) reports that ‘Elsie’ will bloom in “December/January” in Austin, TX if killing frosts have not knocked the enthusiasm out of the plant.  This reminds me of an everblooming rose called ‘Darlow’s Enigma’ which will bloom year-round, in a sunny spot on the south side of the house in Conroe, TX if not knocked back by killing frosts.
