Schreck' was given to Marcelle by a friend, Ruth Dubuisson; who had been given the clone by the Schreck family of Vidor.  Some have propsed 'Schreck' is the same as the 'Carroll Abbot'.

Steve Lowe (San Antonio) has grown 'Schreck' alongside 'Carroll Abbot', and he agrees the two clones are very similar.  However, Steve Low reports 'Schreck' is an all around better performer in the garden, and also a more vigorous plant.  Perhaps it is a garden variant of 'Caroll Abbot' or a seedling, there may be no way to be sure.

'Schreck' is a good bloomer and a very nice plant in humid Texas gardens and central Texas too.
